Religious seek to follow Christ more closely by publicly professing the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience in a recognized religious order, giving public witness of their consecration by wearing a religious habit, and they live in community. God also may help our choice by interior movements, whether we are conscious of them or not, by inclinations leading us to this or that course of action, or by the counsels of a friend with whom we are providentially brought into contact; or He may even clearly reveal to us His will, or his preference. Don’t we all long for that kind of clarity? The people who live religious life are called “Religious”. books Fr. In the general law of doing good, and in the facilities given us to do it, we read a general, or it may be even a special, invitation of God to do it, an invitation which is pressing in proportion to the excellence of the good, but which nevertheless we are not bound to accept unless we discover some duty of justice or charity. She cited examples of former students who came back to share how her encouraging words changed their lives. Hearing from a 1978 Rippowam graduate who, with the help of teachers along the way, recognized that music and theater are his lifelong vocation, she said. Or the 1980s graduate whom I encouraged to audition for Grease and who, unbeknownst to me, went on to study voice in college and is now a college professor of voice himself. He still has the book I gave him and it sits front and center on his bookshelf in his office. I saw something and Im so glad I said something. This was the second time the convocation speeches were delivered via video. The district stopped holding an in-person single convocation event last year so it could use time more efficiently, since teachers had to be in their own school for mandated training sessions on the same day.
